Merle Norman Cosmetics, Inc. was founded by Merle Nethercutt Norman in 1931. Merle Norman was a pioneer in the cosmetics industry and is known for creating a successful brand that offers a range of beauty products. The company is headquartered in Los Angeles, California.
Merle Norman started her business during the Great Depression. She initially created her products in her kitchen and gave out free samples to attract customers, a strategy that proved highly effective.
She was one of the first to use the concept of “Try Before You Buy,” allowing customers to test products before purchasing them. This innovative approach helped build customer trust and loyalty.
The company expanded through a franchise model, opening studios across the United States. These studios offered personalized beauty consultations and demonstrations.
Merle Norman Cosmetics developed a wide range of products, including skincare, makeup, and fragrances. The brand is known for its quality and customer service.
